Get your evil Christmas ornaments here (found via Mendip).

Does this popular movie glorify the radicalization of a terrorist?

Check out the surreal art of Ryohei Hase -- here is his site (surely it can't be coincidence that Hase is German for "hare").

Here's what the Flat Earth Society really believes (found via Mendip).

Chimpanzees worldwide must be in a panic at this news.

If we can't separate the moderates from the extremists, we must suspect them all.

Here are the results of US and Portuguese approaches to drugs.

There exists a vast, ethically-dubious industry based on bird poo.

Poor Jeb -- even when he tries to fight, he's boring.  His lawyers' snark, good as it is, won't have much impact on Trump.

Here's a message from a British veteran of the Iraq war.

1,500,000 Muslims sign a document opposing jihadist violence.

I hadn't heard of this "YouTube Red" thing, but this sounds ominous.

Americans oppose Trump's proposed Muslim ban 57%-to-25%, creating an opportunity for Hillary.  Senate Republicans are embarrassingly divided.  Out in the streets, the hysteria continues.  He does business with Muslims, but do they want to keep doing business with him?  In fact, does anybody?

It's an American tradition!

Sandy Hook conspiracy nuts are harassing and threatening the sister of one of the victims.

Salon's recent "hey, let's lose the election" drivel gets pwned by Zandar, Comrade Misfit, and Steve M.

Clandestine religious schools promote bigotry in the UK.

Trump may have studied the rise of another radical populist.

Herscher has a delightfully inefficient, convoluted way of opening his newspaper. I hope the fallen items weren't too expensive to replace.

I fondly remember seeing that photo of the lizard in the rose on Twitter. Who wouldn't want to curl up in a soft, fragrant rose and take a nap?

I like those ornaments -- it's high time Krampus got some fame.

Those Jedi are a threat to the American way of life! We must close the borders to Jedi and enter all lightsaber purchases into a national database.

As for the Cavendish banana, if you'll pardon the pun, this is the fruit that monoculture agriculture brings forth. Crop diversity is your friend, fruit companies.

Ahab: I hope the hamster or whatever it is wasn't too traumatized by being briefly blow-dried. And I wish roses came big enough for humans to do the same -- without bees to scale, of course.

Loved all the links, but the coming "Yes, we have no bananas" apocalypse is depressing for me, a cousin of pan troglodyte.

Thanks for the link.

Re the article on Ahab's site about "Biblical counsellors" and transgendered folk, I have to admit I've long had a morbid (perhaps even masochistic) fascination with many fundamentalists' loathing of "effeminacy" in boys and men. I think it stems from the fact I was often considered rather feminine myself growing up (so much so, in fact, that I suspect I would've been regarded by these folk as that most terrible of things: the dreaded "prehomosexual boy"), and probably still am to a significant extent. It often amuses me to read fundamentalists' mouth-frothing fulminations about degenerate folk like myself - I often consider it akin to a metaphorical spanking: one that can be perversely pleasurable at times (though at other times, I find their ranting and raving all rather boring).

Thanks for linking to my entry about gun sales.

American Muslims aren't the only constituency that the GOP has lost. Asian Americans were solidly Republican 25 years ago. They're now solidly Democratic. Also, my experience here in Michigan indicates that the Republicans are losing Arab Christians, mostly Lebanese and Iraqi Chaldeans. They were generally Republican, even electing a Lebanese American to the U.S. Senate (fun fact, he served alongside Carl Levin, who is Jewish). Now, they tend Democratic. They want nothing to do with the party of "Boosh."

Zosimus: That's perhaps carrying masochism too far, even for me :-) I agree that the enemy's ranting and frothing against such harmless desires can be entertaining, but it's best appreciated in that way when they do it from a position of impotence. We'll get there.

Nick: They make cogent points. The movies are rather shallow and can easily be read in contrary ways.

Pinku: Thanks for the post. The problem with a party building its base on people who hate everybody else is that, well, everybody else doesn't much like being hated.
