Quote for the day -- not radicals

Today I want to puke when I hear the word "radical" applied so slothfully and stupidly to Islamist murderers; the most plainly reactionary people in the world.

Great quote. Instead of radical, they should be called what they are: necrophiliacs.

"By necrophilia is meant love for all that is violence and destruction; the desire to kill; the worship of force; attraction to death, to suicide, to sadism; the desire to transform the organic into the inorganic by means of "order." The necrophile, lacking the necessary qualities to create, in his impotence finds it easy to destroy because for him it serves only one quality: force." - Erich Fromm, The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness

(Yes, I just posted another quote from that book on another article of yours… I love that book).

SG: Not a bad idea, but if I called the jihadists necrophiliacs, I might get sued for defamation by people who have sex with corpses.

The objection is to people who use "radical" to mean "extremist". If they mean "extremist", they should just say it.

When it comes to Islamist terrorists I prefer radical extremists or radicalized extremists.

Hitchens, given his far-left background, was using the word 'radical" in a rather specific way. Unfortunately these distinctions of meaning are becoming lost now as the meanings of words become generalized.
