Video of the day -- Слава ВДВ!

Two commenters on this morning's post about anti-gay abuses in Russia hinted that perhaps some of the Putin regime's propaganda uses homoerotic imagery of its own.  I'm shocked, shocked at the suggestion that the macho and militaristic propaganda of a fascist regime might have any homoerotic undertones.

On a completely unrelated note, I've long enjoyed this video by Russian singer Aleksandr Buinov celebrating the VDV (Airborne Troops) -- the thugs manhandling the gay demonstrator in the picture at the top of this morning's post are members of the VDV, as shown by their distinctive blue berets and blue-and-white-striped shirts.  See what you think.

On the rightwing blogs I manage to read and not vomit afterwards, more than a few commenters support Mr. Putin's homophobic regime and are disconsolate over the fact that this country has moved beyond gay bashing and bigotry and accepted LGBT community as full citizens.

These are the same people who squawk about Mr. Obama being a "Commie," then show their admiration for the policies of an ex-KGB operative.

Their sickness runs deep.

Shaw's right. There are more than a few voices among the far right who are praising Russia for its anti-gay policies. I'll be doing a post about it soon.

I've seen plenty of that myself. You know they'd love to have the same laws here if they could.
