Video of the day -- Land of Confusion

From 1986 and it still resonates today.  The video is full of intriguing symbolism, as at 1:54 "The men of steel, the men of power, they're losing control by the hour" as hands hold up TV remote controls, adumbrating how the internet would destroy the centralized control of information; or at 3:13 when the dinosaur imagery is interrupted by a small mammal eating a dinosaur egg -- the small and unnoticed subverting and destroying the giants.

I love this song and its themes. Disturbed did a good cover of it too a few years back.

Given your feelings about religion, what are your thoughts on Genesis' "Jesus He Knows Me" song and video.

Havent heard that cut in quite some time from Genesis Infidel, but since you posted it ... Phil Collins was really a major spark to that crew, a well rounded vocalist, composer, but in particular even though he hasnt been noted for it ... a percussionist, after all ... even as a last minute decision when Led Zeppelin was pulled together for a reunion ... Phil was brought in to try to fill shoes of John Bonham who passed away (a percussionist who has had as much influence on drummer's of today as Neil Pert of Rush or Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mack, etc) Phil is an outstanding percussionist though I'd like to add. He probably got most of his reckognition though sometime during the 1980's when he came out with his solo career (which I couldnt get into much, because knowing of his such detailed past and perfection with Genesis)and achieved alot of commercial and MTV play, along with folk's like Peter Gabriel who done well too ... however ... most of Phil's outstanding work and contribution's had to be with Genesis. Phil is also like some big time preservationist and history buff here in Texas, when it come's to the Alamo.

a lil unrelated subject- wise from the post you wrote, but had to put in something about Phil since you posted his work here.

Thanx ....

Ahab: Not familiar with that one -- I'll have to check it out.

RC: He was one of the more memorable figures from that period, certainly.
