Quote for the day -- same old same old

"The Wikileaks controversy is unfolding in exactly the way almost everything else in this country unfolds – in a yawning divide lined with yapping dachshunds."

Thanx for the OP link Infodel and Good Morning from the Ranch! Geeez ... there is so much action to keep up with ... I miss so much!

But this Assange case I been trying to examine for close to a couple week's now I reckon, and of course have drawn my own conclusion's so far. I know that even some would like to see him executed or whatever as well.

I never had any problemo with "spying" and/ or "secret's", I realize what the world is really like, and how dangerous it can be, and feel for defense reason's, spying and secret's are importante ... after all ... everyone is doing it to us as well ... heh, heh, heh, heh, heh. I also feel despite my curiosity that there are thing's that should be kept from the masses in security situation's ... I dont WANT our defense and security to tell me all their secret's ... but I at the same time, want to know that they are doing what is in the countries best interest.

But I cant find any reason to persecute or prosecute so far Mr. Assange. Nor do I blame him at all for what he's done ... we have that freedom to put out freespeech and info obtained by folk's like him (at least we should, if we are as free as everyone love's to rant about). The folk's that I find at fault and negligent are the government's and their affiliate's, for not doing their "job's" efficiently. I mean ... how "secure" are we defensively or otherwise, if those ... running these thing's cant even secure classified info/ intell?

As far as Mr. Assange's aledged criminal sex act's or whatever their called today ... you must expect that those who are out to attack him, are going to pull petty skeleton's out of the closet, that they know million's of dumb masses will get their panties in a bind over ... such as issue's of sexuality or other related nonsense.

But ... that's just the ole Chimp's opinion. :)

I give the Wikileaks story another week and it will completely die off the news feeds... you know, like news about Afghanistan and Iraq.

RC: I've heard claims that, in an earlier leak, Assange deliberately refused to edit out names of Afghans who were co-operating with the US, thereby putting their lives in danger. If that's true (which I don't know), he deserves whatever happens to him. Merely embarrassing the government isn't such a big deal.

RtS: Quite likely you're right. The media must keep us up to speed on the doings of Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton, after all. Leave trivia like war and foreign policy to the blogs.
