A US-Russia alliance?

Ed Koch makes the case. Is anyone in Russia listening? Despite the hostile stance of the Putin government, I'm optimistic over the long haul. As Koch points out, Islamic imperialism is Russia's enemy as much as ours. Among the Russian people (as opposed to the government), favorable views of the US are more widespread than in most western European countries. And almost all eastern European countries which have become democratic since the Soviet collapse are friends of the US. When Russia (and Belarus) finally cast off autocracy as well, there is every reason to hope that the same will happen.
